It's a precious collectible musical device, for audiophiles.
The tape you can see in some photos was only to take close the cover during transportation; structure is perfect.

(I'm sorry, I'm not completely sure about the name of the model; I made a search and found a "Garrard RC-4a 6.300" which is almost identical, the item I own lacks only the "6.300" writing).
